A NATION-WIDE SISTERHOOD

A NATION-WIDE SISTERHOOD  The initiative went viral the night it was born/launched, on the 6th of August. Tens of equally passionate and aware girls reached out. So many of them were already thinking about this issue, or living it. They just needed a spark to take action. They started collecting and distributing pads to the women in need in their own communities.  Jeyetik turned to a nation-wide sisterhood. 7  teams covered Beirut, Tripoli, South, Beqaa, Metn and Keserwan. Hi to every girl, mother, father who mobilized their friends, their neighborhood to take on this mission.   Thank you to the girls who mobilized their neighborhoods!  Zahle: Clarissa and Ghiwa Tripoli: Rayan and Kiki South: Regina Mount Lebanon: Mia and Marijo from Box of Life  West Bekaa: Malak, Latifa, Yara, Islam  Beirut: Jack, Myriam Matn: Sanaa

HOW DID PEOPLE FIND OUT ABOUT FREE PADS DISTRIBUTIONS?

The people who already go to dispensaries are a fraction of the 80% living in multidimensional poverty. Hyperinflation means people who lived a decent life yesterday aren’t able to buy basic necessities today. That also means they are not used to asking for help, let alone asking for menstrual pads. The 7 micro-groups of volunteers helped tremendously: the people who might need this help the most may not have access to our Instagram page. Instead, the volunteers knew how to locate and approach their communities. Volunteers covered all regions: raising awareness, collecting pads, bridging between us and the aid recipients, and more.

Jeyetik is a non-profit organization to support women’s monthly menstrual cycles. In Lebanese dialect “Jeyetik” means “You’re on your cycle”
